Our First Cover Photo

First and foremost, be sure to pick up a copy of the current Florida Sportsman Magazine and check out that beautiful Contender 44ST on the cover. This is a pretty surreal way to end the year, landing a photo on the front of THE magazine that fueled my passion for fishing when I was just a child. If you had told me back then that this passion would become the basis for a career, I wouldn’t have believed it. Hell, it still boggles my mind on a daily basis. I never had a grandiose dream or a strategic plan to make this all happen, I always just loved connecting with like-minded folks. Folks who would in turn open doors I never even knew existed. And I gave it hell, the only way I know how.

Over the last few years, I’ve been beyond lucky to spend a ton of time with Contender’s tournament fishing team, C1. I’ve been everywhere with them from 100-miles offshore for the White Marlin Open out of Ocean City, Maryland, to their local waters of south Florida for the intense sailfish tournament season. This cover photo was captured a couple years ago as John “Froggy” Cooper fought a sailfish from the bow with the Miami skyline in the background.

A huge thanks to Contender Boats for trusting in my photography over the years, and Steven Dougherty from Florida Sportsman Magazine for making this cover magic happen.

At Iris Outdoors Co, we specialize in photography amongst the harshest of elements, by land or water. If your company is looking to upgrade your imagery this coming year, we’d love to chat. Learn more here.
